Who Taught Her the Alphabet?!

Elizabeth has been studying the letters of the alphabet in her Pre-K class - how to draw them, what they sound like, etc., etc. She's also been learning to spell her name. She loves to tell us that "Elizabef starts with E!"

Unfortunately, Spencer helped her figure out what letter all of our names start with. Why unfortunate, you ask? Well, I answer, because the way she chooses to display her newfound talent (in public and on more than one occasion) is by shouting: "A!... S!... S!... [and then a much quieter] E... That's us!"

Oh. dear.

A...S...S...E What's it spell!? Parental mortification! Awesome.

A side note: My maiden name is 12 letters long. I was the last kid in kindergarten to know how to spell it without the display card in front of me on my desk. One of the first in a long line of sad Kathy stories.

"parental mortification" is exactly right!

will you please mentor elizabeth through her emotional angst? every time the teacher says, "we're going to work on spelling our names today!" i say, "i'm sorry mommy and daddy didn't think this through when we named you! would you like to be called 'Elle'?"
